HOW IT WORKS

If pelvic floor muscles are weakened, they can’t adequately support pelvic organs. EMSELLA is a unique form of pelvic muscle treatment. It incorporates High-Intensity Focused Electromagnetic technology (HIFEM), which works to stimulate pelvic floor muscles that hold the bladder and vital organs in place.

Your treatment will be tailored to match your desired results. For this non-invasive treatment, you do not need to prepare… Simply take a seat fully clothed while reading a magazine for the duration of the treatment session, while electromagnetic technology enters the tissues of the pelvic floor and simulates the muscles. Promoting muscle growth and strength which will restore the support of the pelvic organs. Urinary and urge incontinence begins to fade.

PROCEDURE INFO

During the treatment, you sit on a specially designed chair which delivers electromagnetic energy to the pelvic floor muscles, forcing them to contract. Not only is it a comfortable experience, but patients also remain seated in an ergonomic chair, entirely clothed, and at ease during treatment. Over the course of your treatment, these contractions strengthen the weakened muscles and restore neuromuscular control of the bladder. A single EMSELLA treatment stimulates over 11,000 of these muscular contractions – which is the equivalent of doing 11,000 Kegel exercises!

Emsella is completely non invasive. During your treatment, you remain fully clothed, and simply take a seat on the specially designed Emsella chair. You will experience tingling and will feel your pelvic floor muscles contracting during your treatment, but the sensations are not painful.

Each Emsella treatment is just 30 minutes long.

6 sessions is usually required.

You can resume all of your normal activities immediately after the treatment.

No downtime is required.

The procedure is painless.

In as little as a single EMSELLA treatment, you may begin to notice a difference in bladder control. Generally, the complete process consists of six treatments, each of which takes about thirty minutes and are scheduled twice a week.

Results depend on your condition, the number of treatments and the area treated. The physician will provide you with complete information about the post-treatment care and results.

FAQ

I have had kids and now leak. Is Emsella a good choice for me?

We cannot guarantee Emsella will work for everyone. We cannot guarantee surgery will work for everyone. However, after a vaginal delivery, the pelvic floor undergoes significant stress and leakage can result. Emsella provides the high intensity supramaximal contractions that can revert your pelvic floor back to normal.

I have noticed worsening urgency and incontinence since menopause. Can Emsella help?

Options for leakage with urgency include dietary changes (less coffee and teas!) as well as medication. Most of our patients are frustrated with the thought of life long medication. The medications can be expensive, have side-effects, and are a band-aid for the underlying condition. Studies have shown that the muscles in post-menopausal women can be debilitated. With a full work up, Emsella could be an option.

Does Emsella help incontinence in men?

Emsella is now FDA approved for men. In our experience, we have seen encouraging results. Some men require a liner or small pad for small amounts of leakage after radical prostatectomy. These men may leak during a heavy work out or towards the end of the day. Emsella has helped many of these men return to continence. Men who have had radiation and surgery have not seen much improvement, but numbers are limited.

How often do I need to go in for treatment?

Studies have shown improvement with 6 treatment packages. We offer this therapy protocol. However, we have seen results even with a few treatments. Once the muscles are conditioned, the goal is to stay active and do kegels to keep your gains achieved with Emsella.

Do I need maintenance Emsella treatment?

Studies have shown good results with up to 60% improvement in symptoms. Monthly maintenance may be of benefit.
