HOW DOES PENILE IMPLANT SURGERY WORK?

  • Semirigid rods: Always firm but flexible enough to be positioned as needed.

The inflatable option allows patients to control the timing and firmness of their erection. The entire system is concealed within the body and customized for the individual.

Once implanted, patients use a pump (inflatable model) or manually position the device (semirigid model) for sexual activity.

PROCEDURE INFO

Men receive penile implants at our specialized urology clinic in Montreal. The implant is inserted into the erectile chambers of the penis through a small incision under anesthesia.

Dr. Steinberg customizes the size and type of implant based on each patient’s body and needs. The entire device is hidden inside the body, offering both functionality and discretion.

The entire procedure typically takes 1–2 hours. Most patients are able to return home the same day.

Patients may return to light activity within a few days. Full recovery and return to sexual activity usually occur within 4–6 weeks.

  • Mild swelling and pain for a few days post-op
  • Temporary bruising or discomfort
  • Rare complications such as infection or mechanical issues

Your care team will provide detailed instructions for recovery and pain management.

Once healed, men can use their implant to achieve an erection whenever desired. The majority of patients report satisfaction with both the aesthetic and functional outcomes.
